Ottawa, you made #4thefrontline a success!
With multiple years of success, we are back at it again with a goal to raise funds for our Frontline workers of Ottawa! Whether it’s Military, Police, Firefighters, or Paramedics, our office is committed to raising awareness that the work they do, can come at a cost that many of us will never see. Walker Real Estate has a goal to help as many families as possible with their real estate needs and in turn, create a positive impact in the lives of our Frontline workers; in particular, those requesting help for Operational stress injury (OSI) and Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In 2024, we surpassed our goal and reached a charitable donation of $28,000 to the Ottawa First Responders Foundation, bringing our total donations to the Foundation to $165,000!

#4thefrontline, how does it work?
It’s straightforward; every time we close a deal this month, we donate $1,000. So whether you are buying, or selling a home through us, you are investing in the well-being of your new neighbourhood and showing your gratitude to our Frontline workers. $1,000 gets donated directly to the Ottawa First Responders Foundation or a charity of your choice which you feel supports our Frontline workers. Help us reach this goal!
The Cost of Being a First Responder.
45% of First Responders can suffer from mental health illness, that’s 35% more than the community they serve. When it comes to putting it all on the line for the greater good, our courageous heroes never hesitate to answer the call of duty. That call sometimes can come at a cost to these brave individuals. Some might deal with PTSD and OSI in silence, and other situations may lead to substance abuse that can severely affect their quality of life and increase family tension. PTSD-OSI, according the Ottawa First responders Foundation their diagnosis was triggered “the majority of these disorders are rooted in mental injury sustained while on the job.” We believe that is our duty to return the favor by helping them in their moment of struggle, no one has to stand alone.

Thanks to our personal history with its members during our own moments of need. The foundation provides a safe space for First Responders and their families to cope with the challenges of their duties with much needed resources and services including education, clinician access and peer support amongst many.
We take this personally!
The Walker group has been involved with the OFRF since July of 2019 when it was founded and Geoff is an active board member for this Foundation. It’s no secret that some of us have struggled personally and won these battles with the help of peer support groups and offerings like this Foundation provides and this is why we take it personally . At Walker we strongly believe that together we can achieve great things. We understand that it’s in everyone's interest to help one another, and also give each other a push when they need it the most. We believe in being good neighbors to our colleagues, to our clients and especially to our community heroes.

It’s not easy to talk openly about daily struggles and our feelings when you have the weight of the community on their shoulders, OFRF is here to help our First Responders lighten that load with #4TheFrontLine. We’ve all struggled in our lives at some point or another, but it’s not always easy to ask for help especially with the fear of being misunderstood.
